For buyers

For buyers

Buying credits should not require a broker and three weeks of email

Most buyers still transact over spreadsheets, with pricing they cannot benchmark and provenance they cannot verify. BNZ X replaces that with a transparent order book and registry-connected settlement.

  • Screen supply by project type, geography, vintage, registry and co-benefits
  • See indicative pricing before you enter a negotiation
  • Verify serial numbers against the source registry, not a PDF
  • Retire credits directly and receive an audit-ready certificate
  • Hold and manage a portfolio across multiple registries in one account

I-RECs

One megawatt hour, fully attributed

An International REC is the accounting record for a single megawatt hour of renewable generation. It is the instrument behind a credible Scope 2 market-based claim, and it is retired once so the attribute can never be counted twice.

EPR Credits

Producer responsibility, closed on paper and in practice

Extended Producer Responsibility makes the producer accountable for the material they put on the market. EPR credits are the proof that an equivalent tonnage was collected and recycled through authorised channels.

  1. Obligation set

Producer liability is calculated from material placed on the market in the compliance year.

  2. Collection

Registered agencies channel post-consumer waste back from the field into the formal stream.

  3. Recycling & recovery

Authorised recyclers process the material and log verified throughput against the plant licence.

  4. Certificate issued

EPR credits are generated, serialised and made available to offset the producer obligation.

Every EPR credit on BNZ X is traceable to a licensed recycler, a processed tonnage and a compliance year, so the certificate you file stands up to a regulator asking where the material actually went.

Questions

Trading on BNZ X

  • Which registries do you support?

Supply is sourced from the major independent registries. Each listing shows its issuing registry and serial range so you can verify it independently before purchase.

  • How is credit quality assessed?

Projects are screened on methodology, additionality, permanence and leakage risk, and we surface the underlying documentation rather than reducing quality to a single score you cannot interrogate.

  • Can we buy without retiring immediately?

Yes. Credits can be held in your portfolio and retired later against a specific reporting period or claim.

  • Do you support forward purchases?

Forward and offtake arrangements are handled through our trading desk rather than the open order book. Contact us to discuss structure and terms.

  • How can I sell my carbon credits through BNZ X?

Project developers and asset owners can bring inventory to market through BNZ X — submit your project and registry information, and our team will work with you on eligibility, positioning and access to buyers on the platform.

  • Can project developers list carbon credits on BNZ X?

Yes. BNZ X is built as a two-sided marketplace — project developers and asset owners can bring verified inventory to market alongside the existing buyer-side listings.

  • What types of environmental assets can I sell?

Carbon credits, I-RECs and EPR credits — the same three asset classes available to buyers on the platform.

  • How does BNZ X help asset owners find buyers?

Listed inventory is discoverable to the corporate buyers, traders and institutions already active on BNZ X, so sellers are not limited to their own existing buyer network.

  • Can I sell carbon credits in bulk?

Bulk and block transactions are supported through our trading desk. Contact us to discuss volume, structure and timing.

  • How does carbon credit pricing work?

BNZ X provides reference pricing by project type and vintage, so both sides of a transaction can approach negotiation with market context rather than pricing in the dark. We do not guarantee a specific sale price.

  • Can I sell I-RECs through BNZ X?

Yes — I-RECs are one of the three asset classes supported on both the buy and sell side of the marketplace.

  • Can I monetize EPR credits?

Yes — EPR credits (plastic, e-waste, battery and tyre streams) can be brought to market through BNZ X alongside carbon credits and I-RECs.
